What is the Office of the Advocate for Special Education?

The New Hampshire Legislature established the Office of the Advocate for Special Education (ASE) to support parents of children with disabilities through the schooling journey and to collect data to better understand the status of school-aged disability services statewide. Parental support ranges from providing information to parents just beginning to navigate their child’s disability within the schools to attending IEP meetings to supporting parents with advocating for changes in services to guiding parents through dispute resolution if parents believe their child's needs under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA) have not been met.
